Subject: Garmin vs. Cateye
I am looking at purchasing a new bike computer, and I am an entry level triathlete. I have been training for a few months, and plan my first tri next season.

I am looking at either a Garmin or the Cateye V3. I am on a budget, but have time to save. I love all the features of the V3, and I love the price, however the GPS feature on Garmins are cool (yet not needed).

I would love to hear some peoples thoughts and opinions, on why one is better than the other. Currently, I am leaning towards the Cateye.

Thanks ahead of time to all who answer.

I purchased the Garmin Forerunner 305 on Ebay for around $135 then another $39 for the cadence and bike mount and quick release. I love it because it has the Heart Rate and I can take it running or biking. The Garmin training center gives you good info when you upload and you can upload your workouts to your training logs on this website. It is a bit large while running but you get used to it. If you have the cash Garmin has come out with a new version (Forerunner 310xt) that is waterpoof as well as smaller. I heard mixed reviews of the 405.
My only complaint is that you can not use Garmin's online training center with the 305 only the pc version. That and the size otherwise it is great.

I have never used the Cateye so I can't comment.
