Ok, sitting here reading my BT and my son who's 4, decided he needs to do some repair work. So he gathers up his workman belt and tool box and goes to work. First on my treadmill, now on my rocker. He's such a good little guy, always trying to make mommy happy.

Anyone else with such a story to put a smile on us?

Get him to start learning bike maintenance.

My three year old managed to spread the bike tools out around the basement the other neight while my fourteen year old and I were trying to figure out how to replace a shifter.

Can't start them too young!!!

Maybe not the cutest sight...but I was talking over the phone with my nephew back in December and I was talking to him about triathlons. I was telling him that I'm not a good swimmer, well his response was that the next time I come home, he'll help me with my swimming since he's a good swimmer. He's only 7. I thought it was the coolest thing that was said to me when I ventured into the world of tri's. BTW...I've improved greatly in my swimming. Not perfect, but much better than where I was back in December.

Those stories are great! My daughter is only two, but if she sees me browsing the message boards here and sees an avator of someone running, she'll say "Mommy run." She also gets excited when pics from the 5k I did last year come up on the screen saver. I'm happy to be setting a good example for her.

I went to the podiatrist the other day to get some steroid injections into a nerve between my 2nd and 3rd metatarsals. Not cute. But my 5 year old daughter was there and just before the shot she put her hands on my face and turned my head toward her and said:

"DAD! Just don't look! It's going to be okay! Just breeeeeeathe! That's why I'm here...to take care of you Dad. Can we go to Casa Ole' for dinner? I'm hungry. I wanna put the band-aid on. Hey! Did you just stick a needle in my dad's bones? DAD! I said don't look...I'm trying to distract you okay, look at my eyes..."

This is at five. When she's fifteen, I can't even imagine what that's going to be like...

The other day, in the car, my 4.5yo son was upset about something and was fussing.

His twin sister, who had some sort of dry-erase play notebook, starts taking down his "symptoms"

Where is the boo boo? Uh Huh. Is it bleeding? No. Okay, Is he crying? Check. Lots? I'll put that down as a yes. Is it swollen? Can he move it?

And on and on and on...

All the while "writing" this stuff down on her notebook just like a doctor would...

I'll try to keep this short but it was a ten minute discussion while riding to town. My son, age 7, and I where discussing what bobcats and coyotes eat. I told him small animals, raccoons, squirrels, young deer, so on and so on and oppossums. He looked at me and laughed and told me that he saw a oppossum in the zoo and it was too big for them to eat. I explained that they aren't too big and that we have them here but they sleep during the day in trees and only come out at night. He laughed and looked at me as if I had lost my mind. I explained that they hang upside down by their tails and even told him that they carry there young in a pouch (now he knew everything I do about the creatures). He continued to laugh and tell me to quit kidding him. By now I'm confused and a little upset that he doesn't believe dear old. He finally says,
"Dad, I saw them in the zoo. They are bigger than the truck and stay in the water." Come to find out he was thinking of a Hippo-possum. It was a very enjoyable ride to town.
