Where can I go to get in the water without paying for a Y membership?  (Lansing Area)

Try your local High Schools.  Most will have some open swim times for a few bucks a session.

Michigan also has a ton of free swimming spots.  Try your local lake!

High schools are a good option, but you have to work around the lap swim times.  Could work to your benefit.  MSU pools are open to the public.  Search for IM Sports MSU on google and you'll find the page, check pool times.  The outdoor pool is open and is a 50 meter pool (Olympic distance).  the IM indoor pools are 25m.  You can pay for the outdoor pool, IM circle indoor pool is free.
