Subject: under armor with bike shorts?

Ok, some one please help me here!

I’ve been riding for the past several months with no issue in a pair of regular Tri shorts (thin pad). My training season has started to progress and my rides have been getting longer (2-3 hrs) so I purchased a pair of well padded bibs. Unfortunately my back side has had a bad reaction and I have been left with a nasty "diaper rash". I have been able to resolve this issue with some good creams, but now what?

Ride long rides in Tri shorts instead of bike shorts?

Lube up the back side with gel (tried and am not sure this did the trick, still had rash issue but could have been remnants of previous rash)

Or wear a pair of under armor type shorts as a go between?

I know someone out there has already experienced and resolved this "delicate” issue so I eagerly await your help!!!!

Well padded doesn't always mean more comfortable.  Stick with the tri shorts that have been working.  They'll continue to work on the long rides.  I usually just smear some lotion down there, put on the tri shorts, and ride.

I have done many 100+ mile rides... 6+ hours in tri-shorts with no problems. I say stick with your tri-shorts.
