Subject: Aerobars Newbie Question
I had aerobars installed on my road bike this week.  Took them out for the first longer (25mi) ride today.   My quads are really sore tonight...and my lower back and neck are a little stiff too.  The fitter who installed them said to try them out for a couple of rides....and if things didn't feel right then come back in for a professional fitting.  I appreciate him saving me $125 but wondering if these ailments are a normal adjustment to being aero or if I need to go in for a fitting.

TIA.

I don't know what is 'normal', but I do know that I had to ease into longer and longer stretches of aero position.  I think that the neck was my main limiter early on -- I couldn't go more than about 10 minutes without getting stiff in my neck.  I stuck with it and now stiffness begins to set in at around 4 hours, so...progress.

I'd take it in smallish doses at first, and definitely give it several more rides before you assume that something is wrong.  That's just based on my experience, not general knowledge.
