Sunny
Total Time = 1h 09m 25s
Overall Rank = 85/125
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 12/13
Pre-race routine:

stretching and light jogging.
Swim
  • 09m 50s
  • 440 yards
  • 11s / 100 yards
Comments:

This being my first triathlon I didn't know exactly what to expect. When the race started I was concerned about getting kicked by another racer. After I was out swimming, the murky water made it difficult for me to navigate easily. I had an extremely slow swim.
What would you do differently?:

Start on the front edge, outter edge, of the pack and go for it. Don't hold back.
Transition 1
  • 02m 15s
Comments:

I took extra time to dry off and get my socks and running shoes on. This slowed me down a bit. Also, I used riding gloves which I didn't need.
What would you do differently?:

No gloves, bigger towels, a few more towels, don't dry off as much.
Bike
  • 33m 5s
  • 9.1 miles
  • 16.50 mile/hr
Comments:

My bike is SLOW. It's a Haro mountain bike and it felt like I was pedeling with a wet blanket on my back. I felt tired after 7 miles because of my limited saddle time.
What would you do differently?:

More road work. Get a new bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m 21s
Comments:

I had a lightning transition from the bike to the run. The only thing that slowed me down was taking off the biking gloves. The gloves are not necessary.
What would you do differently?:

No gloves.
Run
  • 23m 50s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

This was a personal best time. My calves started to cramp at the beginning of the race but the cramps went away. Near the end of the run my right quad started to cramp but I was able to power on through and the cramp went away and I was able to finish strong.
What would you do differently?:

Don't drink that sports drink. Drink more water. At the end of the race I need to sprint as hard as I can to finish strong.
Post race
Warm down:

walking

What limited your ability to perform faster:

First time swim, first time tri start. Be more confident in my abilities

Event comments:

second aid station didn't have anyone attending when I ran by. The also needed water at the aid stations.
