Then figure out the features you want it to have. There are many of them out there. Also, do a search on here for heart rate monitors. Most common ones mentioned are made by Polar and (if you want GPS with it) Garmin. Once you've narrowed down your search to a few specific models, then ask for specific pros and cons from actual users of the devices. Me, I have a Polar F6 on my wrist. Hubby uses a Garmin 305. I also have used a Sports Instrument HRM too. Good luck! x2 with the advice, especially the first paragraph. I have a Garmin Forerunner 305. Pros of what like - Has a GPS. Has a split time. Has a Multi-sport function. Works in dense coverage (except going through tunnels, obviously). Cons of what I don't like - A little "bulky" In size. Takes a good minute to synch with the satellites (waste of time). Not usable in water. The battery consumption is used more if you have a number of functions going on, like footpod reading along with a HR monitor and using the light. I don't think I'll be able to record my bike and run for IM Moo completely, which is what I'm afraid of. Edited by 1stTimeTri 2009-07-26 4:54 PM
