Subject: Question on training days

Hello I have never done a tri before and am very excited to do my first.  I have set a goal that I will compete in my first sprint next year July 2010.  The last year or so I have gotten to know some cyclists that have gotten me into cycling.  We usually put on around 150 miles in 3 days. 

The question I have concerns the amount of training in most of these plans.  It seems they are all based on a 6 days training 1 day off cycle.  With my family/schedule  I am set on 4 days a week for training, wed/thur/sat/sun.  Is this going to really set me back for competing in a sprint.  Any info or tips on how to go about this are welcome.  Thanks in advance.

For a sprint, 4 days should be fine.

What kind of time do you have on those 4 days? You will probably have to double up on workouts on those days.

I don't think a schedule like that would preclude you from doing a sprint... especially if you are doing 150 miles in 3 days now on the bike.  If you can occasionally find a Monday or Tuesday to get a short run or swim in, that might help as well, but I think based on what you said, you'd be fine going 4 days a week.

I can usually put in 2 hours sometimes a little more.  And thanks for the info!
