Subject: racking by waves...
trying to understand the transition part of a triathlon. same events have "racking by waves" and I do not know what that means.

I have never been in a race, where they did that, but my guess is much like how you will start the race with you "wave" or group within your age group, they will have your bikes sectioned off according to your group or "wave"
