I will be doing my first full distance next year and I wanted to do one under Ironman.  I live in NC and was thinking Florida would be best since it's November and flat.  I hear it's hard to get into? I should be ready by mid summer.  Swimming is my weakest leg, biking is my strongest, running , well let's just say, I manage.  I have even considered Canada or France but would really like it to be in the US since it will be my first.  I see LP is full all ready.  So, with this said, recommendations of one that is pleasant, beautiful, and one I can bring my family and make say. a week trip out of it.  I have a 6,5,3, y/o.

If you can go to Florida this year and volunteer you can get entry to the race- no problem.

The "best" Ironman, is the one you can afford to travel to and can get registered for.

IMLP, which typically sells out on-site actually went on line this year, and I believe took a day or so to sell out. My guess is if you are on top of it when Florida goes online you will be fine.
