Rx sunglasses

I have 2 pairs of the 'rec specs' brand, one pair with cler Rx lenses designed for racket sports, but I use them on rainy cycling days too and one with a heavy tint for nice bike days and sitting in the garden!
Both pairs were about $60 inc the lenses, clear ones from an online Squash shop, the tinted ones from wallmart!

I had a pair of ruddy's years ago with the interchangeable outer single lense, they were a comfy fit but didn't last.
I also thought I looked real dorky with the clear/yellow lense in them as the clip on Rx lenses inside were very visible.

I would never go back to running/biking in ordinary glasses now.
The sport specific desingns with soft rubber nose peices etc make the fit comfortable and keep them in place.

I am bias though, I can't get what I need from contacts so Ican't go the glasses route.

I priced out a pair of their Interchangable frames with Transition lenses. It was going to be about $700, so I ran, not walked, away. I'll probably get Laser Surgery before I pay $700 for a pair of sunglasses.

Although I have had problems with cutomer service and have not gotten them yet... Nashbar was selling Bolle's with Rx Insert for less than $150. I will update y'all when I get them.

I think you can get rx lenses for oakley...

I'm the same way...I just can't stand my contacts. I only need glasses for driving, and TV also for the run/bike.I'm using Lacoste frames which they were able to put my rx's into. I love them and have had no problems.Good Luck!

I have Oakley Rx... love them, but I don't really train with them... I used to wear them for mtn biking and skiing, they were great.. then I got contacts that work fine for me.

I just got some...wanted to get Oakleys and when I first looked into them I thought they told me they were about $275 and I need distance w/bifocals so I can see my bike computer and my Garmin. When I got my new prescription I called and they were like $500 no thank you.

I got some from Walmart..frames $45 and the  lenses were $130 for polarized polycarb with bifocals..so much cheaper. I got the brown lenses and they work well for high contrast so I can see while riding in the shade pretty good.

I got my Rx inserts from Nashbar.
They go with the Vigilante or Parole glasses.

They are fair.
The inserts are small, so they are only good for standing and looking straight, or being leaned over on the cycle and looking straight.

You still need peripheral vision otherwise.

I would not recommend for bi-focals.

These are not the most stylish Bolle glasses.

However, they are functional and do their job at a price tag < $150.

I doubt that they are as good Oakleys or Rudy Project, but they are price proportionate.

I have Oakley Flak with RX polarized dark tinted lenses, as well as RX clear lenses. I believe it was close to $900 for the set.

Check your prescription before ordering prescription sunglasses.  Many wrap-around style glasses do not work well with mid-to-stronger prescriptions.  I wasted some $$ that way.  Finally found a 'retro' style RayBan frame at my eye doc which works great for me.  Lenses are just large enough to protect the eyes from wind & road junk while allowing enough air flow to avoid fogging.  Price was reasonable too- about in line with normal prescription glasses.

Another option I've used for long (day-night) rides is just using clip-on sunglasses for my regular glasses.  When sun goes down it's easy to remove the clip-ons & slip 'em in jersey pocket.

I have a pair of rudy perscription sunglasses and they are awesome for biking and running.  the nose/earpieces are adjustable so you can get the right fit for aero and jogging.  Very durable!
