Subject: OWS locations???
I need a OWS location for tomorrow morning.  I had planned on going to Steward Park until it was pointed out that there will be hydroplanes and crowds.

I am considering Lk Sammamish, but would prefer something closer to the North Seattle/Shoreline, as far North as Lynnwood or on the northern portion of the East side.

Any suggestions???

Idylwood on Lake Sammamish is one option. Or head South to Lake Meridian, you could take 405/i-90 over to do pine lake or beaver lake. maybe green lake but i have not heard good things about green lake. you could also head south to Gene Coulon in Renton and the crowds should hopefully be less there. That is about what I now for Lakes.

I think that I have narrowed it down to Idylwood or Martha.  Is there a specific beach or public area at Lake Martha for swimming?

If you are willing to go a few minutes north of Lynnwood, Silver Lake is my favorite place to swim.  Don't go to the main beach - there lifeguards will keep you in the roped off area with the 6 million kids. However, I talked to one of them about where to OWS and he said that if you go to the beach on the other side, near Emory's restaurant, you can swim in the open water without any problems. There is a parking lot and playground there and it's usually pretty empty.

OK, I ended up swimming at Martha Lake instead of Silver lake and Martha was MUCH warmer.   Glad you had a good swim

BTW, did you see the log/stump everyone talks about? I heard its about 1.2 miles to it and back but I have no idea where it is. Maybe I'll stay a thread with that questions.....

EDIT TO ADD:  hey I found it in the Routes tab - here's the link  http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?routeid=57104

I didn't swim the length...the fellow I was with was new to OWS.  We swam out and back to the big bright blue and yellow floating trampoline/whatever it was twice.

The lake left me a little itchy...maybe the extra warm weather has encouraged extra life forms in the lake.
