Total Time = 1h 39m 55s
Overall Rank = 26/130/42/165
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 6/7
Pre-race routine:

Woke up early, and yet later than I wanted to, so had to motor through the morning to make it on time. For those of you who know the area, I made it from East Lansing to New Boston (door to door) in 1:13. That's a fast drive. Ate coffee and a bannana on the way. one large water bottle. Got to the race, signed in. Met Fromer, Trixie and Czarjenny. And set up.
Event warmup:

Short spin on the bike (probably about 1.5 miles) easy. Some stretching.

Run
  • 26m 4s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

The group went out FAST! I would say at least 3/4 of the group was out in sub 8 min mile pace. Geez. It was a nice reality check for me that I do this for fun, not glory.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing as far as the run itself is concerned. I probably could have pushed the tempo a bit more, but I wanted to make sure I would have something left over for the bike and second run. I didn't want to loose out.
Transition 1
  • 01m 17s
Comments:

I don't do that barefoot jog, hope to get your feet in the shoes while you are peddling thing. Just not me.
What would you do differently?:

I could really benefit from a second set of orthotics so I didn't have to change them with my shoes.
Bike
  • 41m 31s
  • 20 kms
  • 28.90 km/hr
Comments:

Clearly I need to spend more time on the bike. I just need to be faster and stronger on the bike period.
What would you do differently?:

see above
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

for some reason this didn't register for me so I have no idea how long i was in for.
Run
  • 30m
  • 3.1 kms
  • 09m 41s  min/km
Comments:

this time is also missing.

This was a hard run. THe legs were having difficulty, and my left shoulder was very tight for the first mile.

started to feel a little sick to my stomach during the run.
What would you do differently?:

Try to stride a bit more out of transition, because I think if I start off a bit faster I will be able to stride a little better.
Post race
Warm down:

walk, put a wet towel over my head, drink about 4 cups of water

What limited your ability to perform faster:

just not enough time in training. I need to build up my overall time training so that my aerobic is where it needs to be.

Event comments:

The bike course could use a bit of improvement, but they are talking about changing it, so it should just get better. 3Disciplies runs a nice race. The raffle prizes were nice.

I will post some pics in a few days. Check out trixie's log - the woman placed 3rd in her age-group.

Yeah, I thought the wet towel was a nice touch!

Don't fret about the spedsters during the first 5K.  Many of these folks do strictly Du's.  Your more rounded - your a TRI CHICK!

You do know that your first 5K split is not far from your PR for a 5K right?  THAT is some NICE STUFF.

And remember... you will only get STRONGER as the season hums along...

Thanks for helping me look for my glasses!!  It meant a LOT.
