Subject: 8/8 Hound and Hare Running Game One Saturday a month, some running friends and I get together for a game of hound and hares. This is an old British school children's game where one person heads out with a 10 minute lead, leaving a trail of (in this case ) flour or chalk marks and the rest of the pack tries to catch him or her. The game is made more interesting when the "hare" leaves different marks that signify, for example, an unknown direction change, or a false trail. It is a lot of fun, but as it is hard to maintain a consistent pace, it is not much of a training opportunity, and there sure won't be any water or Clif bar stops, we're just some people getting together for a run. There is a great range of skill levels, and no one will be too fast or too slow due to the nature of the game. Our next game will start from Grumpy's bar in Roseville, Minnesota. 2801 Snelling Ave Roseville, MN 55113, and I will be the hare. From I-35W Take MN 36 East. Exit on Snelling and go north. Grumpy's is on your left about 1/3 mile past the RR tracks and County Rd C. |
