I decided on a P2C Ultegra.  Fit has been confirmed and is good.

A used P3C (with Dura Ace) just came up, close to where I live.  It's a 2006, bought in 2008.  Selling with pedals, rear carbon water bottle holder, computer for the same price as the new P2C.

It's been riden to train for IM Arizona and a local small sprint, most miles are on a trainer (which I thought was bad for a carbon bike?).

What should I do?  I know fit is good because I've been on one when deciding on my P2C.  But it's almost 4 years old....?  Does that still make it a good deal?  Or am I better to just go with the new P2?

IMO you will miss that 'new bike smell', plus you will have the backing of a LBS for any issues with the new ride. I vote for the new bike.

Why is a trainer bad for carbon? I plan putting a lot of trainer hours in my P2 this winter.

Another vote for the new bike here. The LBS reason is valid, plus every nick and scratch will be yours.

I've heard it both ways on carbon bikes in trainers. My LBS says it's fine. Still, I may ride my Allez on the trainer again this winter.

I'm still new to the sport and relatively impressionable, but my LBS owner has wrecked 2 frames  from riding on his trainer.  Both cracked along the bottom near the cassette.

You guys both said what I thought.  If I went used, I would probably regret that it wasn't all mine.

New bike.

Also, is the geometry on the P3 the same as P2? I thought maybe the geometry on the P3 is more suited for guys who get paid to race.... Maybe that's good for you but it would not work for me. A little extra head tube is a good thing, in my book.
