Subject: Bike routes in NW Houston
Hi Guys -

I live on the northwest side of town and I am looking for good areas to ride.  I usually ride in my neighborhood (Copperfield area) or at Bear Creek park, but I am wanting to branch out.  Are there any safer roads, roads with shoulders, dedicated bike lanes in the area?

I am looking to do 20-35 miles.

Thanks!

What up!  I live in Copper Lakes.  Lets go ride!!!

You have some options but probably the best route is Longenbaugh to Fry through Bridgelands and out House & Haul.  Turn around at Katy Hockley. One way is ~15 miles.  Finding your way through the Bridgelands can be a pain if you don't know where you are going.  Fry is the busiest road but has a fairly wide shoulder.  Early Saturday or Sunday morning is the best time to go.  The wind on Fry is always there and will be in your face any direction you go :-).

Chappell Hill is only 45 minutes from us.  Great place to ride w/ some hills.  I'll email you a map here in minute

There is a club that meets a Zube park on Satudays and Sundays. here I've never been but heard good things.  Might be interested in going.

There is the Bike Barn group that leaves their shop at 7ish on Saturdays.  They get ~20-25 in taking the same route out to Fry but continue on to 290.

Let us know when you want to ride.  I'm sure we can get a group together.

The Zube park ride is pretty close to you and is pretty safe as well.
