Comments: At around 4k I fealt tightness in my left. Wasn't too concerned at first since this occassionally happens early in the run, then goes away. By 7k I knew I was in trouble; ITBS was back! How could this happen? It was under control all spring! At 9k I started a routine at each water station (2k apart): drink, walk 50m, stretch. That bought me about another 1k of pain-free running. Of course, this didn't last. By 17k there was nothing I could do to stop the pain, and the last 3k were run in a lot of pain. ![]() Post race
Warm down: I headed straight for the physio tent and got the ITB worked on for a good 20 min. She loosened up the band but the inflamation had set in and I knew I was in for several days of recovery. She said the problem is often caused by having weak glutes; I'll have to work on that and step up the other ITBS exercises.
