Subject: Sinus congestion after swimming in the lake
It happens about 2-3 hours after I finish a swim in the lake, full congestion of my sinuses. It does not happen after a swim in the pool though. The congestion gets worse as it gets later in the day/night. I tried a sinus/allergy (sudafed) but it does nothing. It is just very difficult to sleep at night with this condition. Anyone have this problem and found the solution? What causes this?
thanks

Not sinus congestion, but itching in the ears here.  I guess bacteria from the lake.  I wear earplugs to prevent this.  I think they make nose clips that you might want to try.  Oh yeah, the back of my throat also gets itchy after a lake swim compared to a pool swim.

I have lots a sinus issues, but also get congestion after swimming (lake or pool for me). When I shower after a swim (I just rinse at the pool and shower when I get home) I use a netti pot to clean out my sinus. If there really bothering me I use it a couple times a day. Per my ENT's instructions I use nasonex a half hour after the netti pot. Seems to help a ton, by which I mean, it keeps me at my normal state of congestion as opposed to super congested.

Try allergy herbs from Vitamin Cottage or Whole Foods or whatever health food store in your area.  Works wonders and it they don't make you sleepy like over the counter allergy pills.
