Im looking for decent hills that'll get me prepared for the HIM in oceanside in march..was wondering if you have any pointers? thanks

I did not do that well on the bike last year, I could have done better, I focused on hill training, not because of this race but I did Wildflower right after. Honestly the hills are not bad, and the one big hill is almost welcomed as it gives you a chance to stretch out after the half way point. I found the bike course rather boring as it looked like just another desert to me, after doing it I found the slight headwind and overall gradual elevation to be more of a challenge for my strength and focus, if I were to train for it next year it would be more on tempo and power to maintain my speed over the entire course with its gradual elevation increase.

Santiago Canyon is a great ride with climbs on both ends. Start at El Toro Road and head East past Irvine Lake till you hit Jamnboree. U turn and head back for close to 2500' of climbing for the ride. Add in Silverado Canyon and/or Modjeska for added climbs and mileage. Great rides.
