Hi team!  I'm Neal.  It's going to be a run focused month for me as I'm training for a marathon the first week of October.  I've also got an olympic-ish distance tri the end of September so I'm trying not to let my swimming and biking go to crap either.  Hopefully the challenge will help.

hahaha. I generally try to change my avatar to a pic representative of the challenge team I'm on for the month. But perhaps I'll skip that tradition this time around!

Hi All!

I'm Kristina, and very excited that I will finally have access to a pool this month. I'm going for a well-rounded month, with six sessions of each discipline. It's the first time I'll have incorporated swimming, so we'll see how that goes. It's not so bad, hopping on a bike or throwing on a pair of running shoes. But the pool prep, drive, change, swim, shower, etc. routine sounds exhausting, even before I've attempted it!

Yay, I'm a NAD again - and with Neal to boot! Rock ON!

GOOOOOOOOOOO NADS!!!!

Hey, I'm Slugger, and I fell woefully short of my August goals, so I'm gonna bust some moves to make sure September happens. I *might* be acquiring a treadmill this month, and I'm WICKED excited about it! Unfortunately, I also am dealing with some medical cr@p, and have no idea how long I'll be out for that. I go in for a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) today at 2 p.m. - keep your fingers crossed for me!

And, just to *prove* that I'm gettin' serious this month, I've already got one run in the books! I'm learning ChiRunning from the book, so it was a super slow, steady, just learning the forms run, but I was PSYCHED to get out there. I've decided to stop doing run/walk intervals, I think they were actually holding me back and I was bored with the same old routine. We'll see how this shakes things up!

For my trifecta (which makes me think of thoroughbreds, which makes me simultaneously miss my OTTB and wonder why we're talking racing in the fall, not the spring...):
#1) Run. I'm letting this fall off, so I HAVE to make it a priority. Still working out # of sessions.
#2) Bike. Just started commuting to work, and have to do that 8x to get the $20 benefit, so 8x it is!
#3) Log my food. Still trying to get back in the habit - it is HARD on night shift with no internet at home!

Yeah, swimming can be a hassle for sure.  Can I use that as an excuse for my lack of pool time?  Not the fact that it's my least favorite of the 3

Hi Nads!  I'm a late entry but happy to be on the team.  My name is Kim and I fell off the grid in August.  I need this challenge to get me back on track as I have a half marathon in November.  Will get my goals in tonight, but they will be running focused.  I'm also going to work on "resistance stretching."  Dara Torres uses this as part of her training.  I took a workshop last weekend with a certified coach (who was in town to work with Jets, who are also using it) and am excited to try and work this into my routine.

Slugger, I'm also trying to "Chi".  I have the book and have been trying to incorporate this into my running.

Planning my first bike of the month for after work today. I just finished moving and all of my stuff is still in boxes, so I'm hoping for some luck in hunting up my helmet and such. I suppose I could unpack instead.... nahhhh. What fun would that be?

Hey Slugger! Good luck with the LP today!

Always makes me think of the TV show House, but that's a slightly different topic.

Welcome Kim!  My "Chi" book is in need of rereading.  Running has become more of a struggle lately.

I moved a month ago and still have boxes in the living room   It was entertaining trying to find stuff for awhile.  I did learn to be a little more specific with my box labels next time around.  Hmmmm.......which box marked clothes are my socks in?

Well hello Nads!  I'm a little late checking in, but I'm here!  I'm Cheri, and right now I'm on a business trip in Maryland (which is why I'm late checking in).  Things should get back to normal after I get home late tomorrow night.  Is that too late to set my goals?  I need to check my training plan, plus I'm not supposed to access the google spreadsheets from my work computer (but I figured out how -- sshh, don't tell on me).

Kim, I'm going to be run focused this month too -- I also have a half marathon in November.  Where is yours?  I'm in Florida, so hopefully it will be cool enough by then.

Slugger, I hope everything went ok today.  It sounds scary...

I've been on challenges with a couple of you, and I also am meeting some of you for the first time.  So let's go Nads!

Hi Cheri.  My half is Nov 22 in Philadelphia, so it should be plenty cool.  The last one I did was in Central Park in NYC in April.  There was an unexpected heat wave that weekend and the temps were 85 at 7am.  It was 95 by the time I finished. I didn't just walk through the water stations, I bellied up and hung out there I think.  It hasn't gotten that hot up here again all summer.  Hope your weather cools off.

Hi Cheri!  It's nice to be on a team with you again.  Maybe things have cooled off in Florida while you were away (that was really hard to type with a straight face )
