I read somewhere yesterday that using a carbon bike on a trainer is not a good idea. Never heard that before. Anyone else???

An old wives tale... You're stressing the bike less in a trainer than you do on the road. Absolutely no need to worry about using carbon on a trainer.

LOVE my CompuTrainers! We bought two, one for me and one for my wife and ride all winter long. The CT really makes indoor training fun! If we are doing some specific workouts, then we use our normal fluid trainers (such because it's a bit difficult to move the entire CT to the club house to ride... we meet the club members and do trainer sessions in the winter)

audiojan - 2009-09-03 9:40 AMdumb double post... absolutely hate working on the PC... this wouldn't happen on my Mac!!!
I know EXACTLY how you feel. I hate having to use the PC at work. I honestly feel like I would be twice as productive if I could use my mac at home!

As was stated above, I've had mine on a CompuTrainer for the last 2 winters and have no issues.  Have several thousand miles on it.  The only thing I did was put a stainless steel skewer in it rather than a carbon one and use a cheap tire.

I've heard of lots of people using carbon frame bikes on a trainer with no problems.  The owner of my bike shop has cracked 2 carbon frames riding on his trainer.  Maybe it's the way he rides, maybe he's got bad luck...I don't know.

I'm guessing it's just like anything...it could happen, and happens to some, but it's rare.
