I'll be there, but coming off an injury, and with some sparse late-season training, probably won't be in contention for the win.

I felt a little warm in my wetsuit in August, so I'm definitely torn between whether or not to wear it.  The swim is so short that the time difference is pretty minimal, and I'm certainly a bit more relaxed just swimming in a tri suit.  For the short course, I'd definitely go no-suit.

Definitely bring it, however.  If the jellies are out, I'll certainly be wearing it.   Depends on the wind and surf leading up to the race.

It's a little far out still, but surf report is calling for 3-4 ft waves.

If you have a wetsuit, wear it. The bouyancy and resulting better swim are worth it.

But if you don't own a wetsuit (for the short course), do you think that will be OK?  Can anyone give me pointers on this race?  It's my 3rd tri since July, but first time racing this course, first time in an open ocean swim (I've done pool, lake and bay before), and I feel woefully undertrained since my last race in mid-August.  Back to school and life have intervened!  I am usually in the bottom 10-20% anyways - is this a slow triathlete friendly race?

I haven't done War at the Shore but I did the Long Branch tri on Aug. 15 (same organizers). I am an EXTREMELY slow triathlete and I thought the Aug. one was an incredibly friendly race. I wouldn't worry about not owning a wetsuit...it's a short swim and the ocean is still plenty warm enough. There were no jellies yesterday and now that it's not so warm, I don't imagine we'll be getting them at all.

I'm hoping War at the Shore has the same laid-back attitude that the Long Branch one had....the Long Branch ones used to be un-timed so everyone just used them for training. They added chip timing but I think it kept that fun, "just a training morning", feeling.

Look for me on Sun! I won't be wearing a wetsuit either and will be in the age group with the 41-year olds! Good luck!

Great - thanks for the info - I hope it is similarly laid back.

Good luck!  I'll be in the 37 yo or Athena group and am very slow.  I have no false hopes for this one - just hoping to finish (and not freeze in the process!).

I'll be doing the short course, for my first tri.  Been training since May, and looking forward to taking the plunge. I haven't really read the forums here too much, more so just keep my training notes on this site.

Very excited!
