Coaches and proper training will make you faster compared to buying fancy gear.

In case there was any doubt left at all about how tired and overused this phrase is, it's now shown up in a thread about SWIMMING. There should no longer be any doubt.

It should be said that Lance, who holds credit for the quote, was one of the most obsessive gear junkies in history, and he was constantly in search of what he called "the s**t that kills," i.e. all the fancy aero stuff to shave seconds off his times and speed his climbs.

I was thinking about giving some lessons a shot this winter, and this thread reminded me what a good idea it would be.

Thanks for the affirmation of my winter plans. I will be getting a coach for the swim & maybe a tri-bike if I can save the $ for the bike. Glad to hear the swim coaching has paid off for you.

this is definately on my to do list. Of all the things I want this is the one i think i need most. Glad to see there is some pay off for the money you shell out.
