Subject: Dumb pool question?
This shows you how much about swimming I know.  The local Rec Center at the college in town has a 50 meter pool... is that 50 meters from end to end OR 50 meters to the end and back to the start (25x2)?

I know how to swim, every stroke, but am not a strong swimmer.

When they say "50 meter pool," that means from one end of the pool to the other, is 50 meters.  Back and forth is 100.

A 50 meter pool is 50 meters from end to end. Also know as an "olympic size" pool. That would be a great training resource. Wis I had one nearby.

That would be the length of the lane, so up and back would 100m.

A 50 meter pool is an olympic length pool, 50 meters end to end. So if you swim one lap (i.e., down and back) you swam 100 meters.

Yes, it's a big pool.  Making time for it with 4 kids is the tough part.

What's surprising is that not only is it a 50-meter pool, but I assume they have the lanes divided that way. A lot of places with an Olympic pool will run the lanes across the pool, so they're only 25 meters. More lanes that way.

I have never swam in a 50 Sort of rare these days unless you are near a real training facility vs. a gym. I have seen that where they put the lanes the "other way" to make for more lanes. Has to be weird the first few times seeing the lane lines across you
