Subject: Most competitive Olys in Texas
Next year I want to concentrate on Olys and want to enter some of the more competitive races in
Texas.  I can't keep up with the fastest guys in my AG, but would be thrilled with an AG top 10 racing against faster guys.

The only Oly I've done that attracts lots of fast people is CapTex.  I've never done the Austin tri in Sept, and have never done any in the Dallas or Houston areas.

So, which Olys in Texas attract the fastest racers? Which are typically not wetsuit legal (no wetsuit gives me an advantage)?

Brian

Lonestar is all about out of state college teams coming in for it. Take them away and it's not super competitive in the oly. Still will be a solid field, but not as good as previous years.

Dallas(US Open) and Captex are the two big ones and whatever the championships are for the year.

Captex Tri and Dallas US Open definitely have some of the fastest racers at the Olympic distance. At this year's US open you needed to be inside 2:35 to be top 10 in most male age groups. The fields are very deep at these races and you will have some good competition.

Unfortunately Captex and Dallas US Open are usually wetsuit legal.

Lone Star will be a special qualifier for the National Championship. I think it'll be pretty competitive. The 70.3 will be VERY competitive, especially once you hear the announcement next week at Clearwater

Hey Keith, would you still qualify for nationals if you race in the elite wave at Lonestar?
