Traveling from Georgia this summer and considering the Muncie Endurathon. Anyone know if it is wetsuit legal? Positives, negatives on the race? Thanks in advance for any help.

It's not always wetsuit legal...probably 50/50. It's a great venue and more challenging than what a lot of people may say. It could be 60 degrees, windy and raining or 90 degrees and miserable. The race venue is about 20 minutes from any hotels but it's an easy drive though. It did sell out this past year. They have the Half, Sprint, Aquabike and new this year a sprint Du as well as a Half distance (Long Course) Du which makes me happy.

Does anyone have predictions as to when this race will sell out?  When did it sell out last year?

I think they cut off registration about 5 days out last year.

Ok cool.  I wanted to wait til right before there's a price increase (May 1) to make sure I'll be in a condition to go for it.  (or at least on my way to be in such a condition. )  Thanks!

Did the race two years ago and had great time. My first HIM, rain started 1/2 way though the swim and I think that saved me on the bike as I would have pushed really hard for how much I had trained.

The packet pick-up is the Friday before, at the expo. Although you can pick it before the race, you have to make special arrangements.

Anyone looking to do a few tune up races at the same venue as the Endurathon? Check out http://www.munciemultisport.com. There's a Duathlon in May and a Du/Sprint/Oly in June. There's a discount code for $10 off the registration good until April 15th...use code mmsi2010. You'll get to ride the hilliest portions of both the run and bike courses for the Endurathon in these races.

I thought the Endurathon was relatively flat?  How hilly does it get?

It isn't "hilly", but it isn't flat.  It's enough that you'll wish you had done some rollers in training, but, it's central Indiana...fairly flat.

The first few miles and the last 4 or so of the course are non stop small rollers. If you come and race any of the other races this year you do a 20K loop around the reservoir that doesn't have any relief of the small hills.

Has anyone mapped the bike course on MapMyRide?  I took a look at the race site & they have it on Gmaps, but I'd like to see it in additional detail (better elevation tools).  I tried to search up a map here too, but didn't see anything here either.

Naw, no pay, I'm more than happy to do that for Vern. It's going to help me get even more comfie on the new QR too.

What did you think of the symposium overall?

Really found it useful with some outstanding lectures.  I did the TAP swim (video analysis), which was very helpful.  Looking forward to next year's event.

If you (or anyone) need your swim recorded, I do that several days a week at the Monon Center in Carmel. Also, we start swimming in Morse Lake in Noblesville on 5/1.

I spoke to Steve Tomboni yesterday, and he's going to have a group swim/bike/run the Endurathon course over Memorial Day weekend.

This was an extra cost ($30) break-out session during the symposium (which was also great deal @ $30 ($25 if YMCA member) for tech-T shirt, lunch, & few extra goodies).  Around 50min small group session.  We warmed up around 10min, then a senior instructor from SwimFit took underwater video via a boom-mounted camera as we individually swam by (collecting front, side, and back views).  After taping we sat poolside as instructor reviewed & critiqued our strokes using slow-mo, reverse action, etc.  First time I ever had my swim recorded.  Amazing the difference between my perception of body mechanics & what a actually was doing in the water.
