![]() Swim
Comments: Started on far left outside of group. I didn't want to get hammered by the mad rush of the wave. Actually, with 100 people per wave and the wide open beach, getting hit by the rush of people wasn't my biggest problem. My biggest problem was that by going with a conservative starting place with the swim, I had to expend a lot of energy to swim PAST people for this wave. Goggles were dislodged just past the halfway point. Not a biggie putting it back in place, I rolled over onto my back for a brief moment, re-adjusted it and went back to work. Endurance-wise, I'm still way too hyper at the start. I settled in very nicely after the turnaround, but was way too juiced for the first half of the swim. I took things slowly and still found myself out-of-breathe. Relax and swim better What would you do differently?: Start inside, I am not a slow swimmer. I'm not Michael Phelps but I'd rather have people worry about getting past me rather than me passing other people. Need to work on sighting, it's still a challenge getting my orientation correct. Also, need to implement and take advantage of drafting better ![]() Transition 1
Comments: T1 was ok, but my shirt and bib were ripped off (stupid DAG timing chip system) What would you do differently?: Try to get things to done a bit more crisper. HR was racing at this moment and it cost me on the early parts of the bike ![]() Bike
Comments: Tough bike. It was downhill, that a massive uphill through tiorara-something lake. The uphill was taken seated and it was absolutely massive. I think it had to be the biggest hill I have ever climbed up to that point in time. It was bad. Really REALLY BAD... But I did well on thie hills in that I didn't blow up, I avoided the blowing up at all costs Also, I noticed my front tire was completely flat after the race. I may have done a portion of that race with a flat front tire... What would you do differently?: Need new tires, wheels. Have to REALLY settle down in the first part of the race. Could easily get at least 1.5-2 mph on this type of course if I keep hammering things correctly ![]() Transition 2
![]() Run
Comments: Fine, run was not 3 miles (more like 2.7 ) but running was fine, lead was gone fast and was never passed on the run What would you do differently?: Run even faster ![]() Post race
Event comments: Ok race, could be run more efficiently but I am beginning to realize that NYTC runs their events in a quirky way. Last updated: 2005-06-13 12:00 AM
