Comments:

From the start til I get to the beach I was always surrounded by people not letting me go faster. On the other hand, this way I had always someone in front of me which had as result an easier swimming due to the draft. When rounding the buoys there was also too much people, turning it a difficult maneuver.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

As soon as I set foot on the beach I removed the upper part of the wetsuit easily. When I get to my place in the transition area, I easily removed the rest of the wetsuit. I have no idea of the time I lost in the transition, since it's included in the cycling time
Bike
  • 36m 2s
  • 20 kms
  • 33.30 km/hr
Comments:

When I went out of the water, amongst the many athletes, I recognized my tem mate Nuno a few meters ahead and entered the transition area with him. We started the cycling leg together, imposing a good rythm, "towing" with us a few more athletes, soon the group was bigger.
At the end of the first lap, we increased the rythm and the group was reduced to three and we catched another group that was riding very well in front of us. We were around 10 and we entered the transition area together.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

I have the idea that, despite I had some trouble with one shoe, this transition was fast. The time lost in this transition is also included in the cycling time
Run
  • 20m 27s
  • 5 kms
  • 04m 05s  min/km
Comments:

I went off the transition area with my team mate. At first I wasn't feeling very good, I was really thirsty, but... 500m ahead there were the volunteers giving water. From that moment I started to tow my team mate and we were going very well passing several athletes...
And we establish a goal, that was to finish below 1:15
In the last Km, my team mate told me to go and I increased the rythm, managing to finish below 1:13. He arrived a few seconds after me and completed our team
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

In the swimming leg the amount of people around me.
Later in the cycling leg I should have drank some more liquids

Event comments:

This race was simultaniously the Team National Championship. Our team ended up in the 20th position among the 23 teams classified.
This race was really great because there were many athletes competing and also a lot of enthusiastic public. The scenery was awesome and even the weather helped.
After the race, the organization invited all the athletes to lunch, with the presence of the City's Mayor.
No doubt I will do it again next year
