Swim
Comments: I felt pretty good in the swim. I was the first one in my wave coming out of the water. I know I could have gone faster but I think knowing I wasn't going to finish the race made me sandbag it a bit, which I hate to say. Lack of sleep was hurting too. Rounding the island I had to stop to get my bearings. What would you do differently?: Get more sleep. Swim a little faster. Transition 1
Comments: They didn't break down the Transitions. They're included in my swim/bike times. Got the wetsuit off and into bike shoes really quick. Helmet/shades no problem. I have to work on mounting the bike while moving though. Bike
Comments: Again, I felt like I wasn't giving 100%, but my injured leg was hurting a bit. Lots of corners, I need to work on turning at speed without breaking so much. Drafting was allowed but I didn't do it, a habit I don't want to develop. What would you do differently?: Drink more. I didn't take a single drink for the whole 15 miles. Transition 2
Comments: need to work on my dismount. a lot. No probs finding rack and changing into shoes and number belt. Run
Comments: I DNF'd here. Like I mentioned above, I could have done it and probably done it in 7-7.5 minute miles but it would have most likely ended my season. Need to focus on getting healthy. Post race
Warm down: stretch, hydrate What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of sleep, shin splints and twisted ankle. I made the right choice not doing the run, as frustrating as it was. Next race I want to finish strong! Event comments: Extremely well organized and hosted by a swarm of friendly volunteers! The course was outstanding although a little unique with a 15mile bike and 5mile run, but I felt like they did a great job. I look forward to competing here next year. Got a cool tshirt! Woke up and drank a bunch of water. Didn't get to bed until Midnight and played sports the whole day before so I was already sore. I knew I would not be doing the run though (Dr.'s orders. 4 days before the race my Dr told me to save my busted up shin for my major races in July and August. To go pound out 5 miles in this race would have probably ended my season, so best to just go practice the swim, bike and transitions.
Light jogging, stretching.
