As far as team name....... I dunno, I'm just not creative right now. I'll get back to ya'll later.

I`ll join!

Hopefully because we are now one of the last teams, the rest will not think of us as a real threat. Lets kick some ass!

Bike- 250 Miles
Swim- 25000
Run(walk)- 10 hours = I can`t run these days, so the most I can commit to is a solid walking month. I hope this works. (If not, I`ll gladly make my third discipline surfing(25hours), strength training(7hours), or yoga (7 hours).

I too am a beginner, and pretty out of shape...so here we go!
S 6000m
B 100 miles
R 25 miles

As for a name...I have no idea. Maybe the Thunderbirds? I found this about it...
"The Thunderbird lives among the clouds in the sky. The Thunderbird is a monstrous sized bird that is so big it can take whales within its talons. When the Thunderbird beats it wings they crackle with lightening and rumble with thunder. Arrows of lightening flash from its eyes. The Thunderbird comes from Native American mythology."

Here goes:

Swim - 6400 meters
Bike - 100miles
Run (did I say I HATE running???) - 36 miles

What have I got myself into LOL.....

I'm no good with names - so I leave that up to someone else.

I am tapering for JO's July 14-17th and a tri on July 16th, so my training will be low this month. I am on break from swim practice after JO's, but I am going to focus on my bike while on break so here are my goals:

Pool Swim: 16 hours
Open Water Swim: 4 hours
Bike: 16 Hours
Run: 10 hours

I'll be doing a mini taper for my first sprint (7/17)...
This is how I think my month will shape up:
Swim...14,500
Bike.....240
Run......120

I should let you know that I am a distance runner just starting my adventure into the triathlon.
Running is my passion! Typically I run 50+ miles a week, but I have a fabulous tri coach who is helping me to integrate the other two disciplines while I bump my running mileage back and maintain (and improve, hopefully) my overall conditioning...
My swimming is PAINFULLY SLOW but I am chipping away at it...Oye! I am SUCH a land animal!

This is going to be fun! It's nice to "meet" all of you!

Great looking team and International too!

My goals are as follows:
Swim 14,000 yards
Bike 300 miles
Run 54

I am Ken from New Orleans. 42 years old, married to a triathlon wife. This is my 3rd full season of triathlons. I am a middle of the packer, who is pretty fast on the bike, but really slow on the run.

Gonna need your help keeping me focused on running and swimming. If I am not careful, I will ride the bike too much, to the detriment of the other sports. Scout, help me learn to run faster!

Look forward to playing with ya'll.

Ken

vonholt, I think you should do whatever you'd like for your third discipline. Surfing sounds way fun, makes me wish I didn't live in a landlocked state.

If anyone wants to change their goals, better do it now. I'm so stoked!

Thunderbirds sounds like a good name. Anyone ever seen the cartoon? "Thunderbirds.... UNITE!"

Some more about me, I'm 23 years old, perpetually single, from Colorado. I started tri'ing this year to focus more on me and my health, and have lost some weight in the process. I'm still REALLY slow, but I'm having fun, so I'm happy!

I don't think we have a captian yet...Mekarual - you look pretty organized...are you interested? Is anyone interested?
Little more about me - I'm 27, live in Dallas and am in my first tri season. Looking at the list, I am noticing that my numbers are the lowest I have to start kind of low. I've only been training for three weeks! Need lots of motivation!

Sure, I'll be captain. Do I get a gold star?

Scout, I'll take some of those running tips. I can't seem to get past the mental wall. I walk a LOT (40 minutes every day during my lunch break), but can't seem to get myself to get out there to run very often. My body says yes, my mind says no. How do I get it to shut up?

If anybody has any nutrition questions, I'm pretty good with those. I was a nutrition major for a while in college until I figured out that I like reading Whitman a lot more than reading physiology books.

Yeah!!! We have a leader :-)

No tips here...but I'm a sponge for all of yours.

I'm 42 - been working out for about 6 months - but hit a boredom plateau and need a goal to shoot for in order to kick it up a notch. This challenge is IT!!

Mucho gold stars for you, Captain Mekarual! Thanks! It sounds like you enjoy walking. Rather than just planning a "run", maybe you can do a walk/run combination. Lots of beginner runners use walk breaks during their run. Why don't you try taking "run breaks" during your walk? Just use that good old reverse psychology to handle that negative self talk. As your conditioning improves, expand the amount of time you spend running. Remember, speed is not the issue when you start out. If you are running too fast you will tire quickly, become frustrated and you will not enjoy it. Keep it at a nice aerobic pace (ie: you should be able to carry on a conversation while you are running). Speed will come later after you establish a mileage base.
I coach high school cross country so I work with beginner runners all of the time.
Keep me posted!

Thanks, Scout, I tried your advice during my walk last night and it worked like a charm! I just said to myself "Okay, going for a walk. Every minute I will take a two minute jogging break." Granted, I didn't make it far (I never do) but it certainly was a lot easier. Hopefully I can build up some more distance here soon.....

I'm doing the Couch-to-5K plan, enjoying it so far.

How is everyone else doing? Having a good holiday weekend?
