Have a great race everyone.  I'm trying to talk my wife into letting me do this one next year but the cost to get over there is a tough sell right now.  I'm hoping the lure of another destination race will help get her to say yes.

I did this one last year, it was my first. Good luck everyone, especially the kiwis from Christchurch who struggled through the devastating earthquake to make the start line.

it was a rough day out there.  Rain almost the whole time, very heavy at times, and headwind most of the way on the out segment.  I was a bit undertrained and went out too hard on the bike and paid for it.  Had knee problems and had to walk much of the run which I've never had to do before.  If they didn't have rain ponchos, I would have likely DNF'd since I would have gone hypothermic.  Probably my worst IM performance, but any IM finish is a good finish, so I'll take it.

I did get to see Cameron Brown with a huge lead on his second loop of the bike and on the run saw Samantha Warriner leading with Mirinda Carfrae and Jo Lawn (unsuccessfully) chasing her down.  That was cool.

So just wanted to say congratulations to everyone who did it - the weather looked shocking! I watched a lot of it online and thought the dedication to getting round by so many was amazing. And special congratulations to the Cantabrians there - great job guys!

Absolutely, take it - to race for so long in that weather is an achievement! Did they hand out the ponchos on the course then?

I'll be entering the 2012 event (already signed up for my second Taupo HIM) - looking forward to it but having a real hard time deciding which plan to go with!

Lewis.

Got my entry in early - all confirmed. Anyone else interested better be quick - entries have been open less than 2 days and are 95% full.
