Anyone raced Chisago HIM? DNF's my HIM last weekend due to a flat and looking for a relatively close HIM to Kansas City to run towards the end of July.
Lots of talk about Chisago on the MN board. There's a thread about the sprint, but many replies about the half too. You can also check out its race link by doing a search for it. I haven't done that one myself, but might be there in the sprint.
I did the Chisago HIM last year and am doing it again this year. I give the race a solid 3 out of 5 stars.
The bike is flat, the run has some rollers but also mostly flat. The one thing I don't like about it is they cram A LOT of people into a pretty small park area so the transition area ends up being a real mess.
The best part about the race is the swedish pancakes and ice cream for post race grub
I have done the race the last two years. Course comes up a little short in all three disciplines. Swim is about 1.1 miles, bike is about 54.5 and run is about 12.7. For the number of participants they do a good job and once you are out on the course it is goodbecause of fewer people and more room to roam. Water has been flat and fast the last two years and bike is mostly flat with very few if any tough climbs. Due to heat and lack of shade the run can really get hot. I like the course and am signed up for the half again this year. Would I drive 8 hours for it? No, but that is only because we have several halfs in the area and I could drive 5-6 hours to do several others.
