Swim
Comments: Upstream first currant was very light and did not notice it much at all. A little off course once but it was pretty easy to sight off the bank of the river. Turnaround the sun basted you in the face and it was hard to see the buoys to keep them on the left. Took one way to my right but then I noticed that just about the entire field of swimmers around me were in the same place as I was. What would you do differently?: Practice without wetsuit before race day Transition 1
Comments: T1 went pretty good got a spot on end of rack so easy to find bike coming into transition. What would you do differently?: Practice more Bike
Comments: Started off hydrating a little and easy pace then seted in nice. the first 4 miles or so was very flat but I seemed to struggle keeping speed up. Slight hilly section once off the flat. I was doing real good on the hills maintaining cadence and speed. What would you do differently?: Maybe slow pace in the hills to be better for the run. Transition 2
Comments: T2 went real quick. I felt like I was missing something and thought for a couple moments then told myself to get runnning. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Nice easy pace to get HR down first mile and then got going pretty good. about mile 4 sun heated things up good and I could seem to get HR under control. I felt like I was overheating but I had been drinking enough. The water stop just before the turnaround I grabbed someice and cold water and walked it off a little to cool down and get HR back. Run back found myself trying real hard to keep HR down. made another couple water stops to fill water bottle with ICE that melted almost instantly. It did cool me down though. Last mile wanted a stong finish so put my head down and ran the last mile in 9:30. What would you do differently?: Need to figure out how to better keep HR down/under control after Bike. Fluids? slow down. I can usually run a steady 9mm but today I think it was the heat. Post race
Warm down: light stretch, free cold drinks and light food. What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat Event comments: Overall had good time as this was my first Olympic distance race. Last updated: 2010-06-22 12:00 AM

Had to work to midnight so had everything ready day before. Got to sleep about 1a and didn't sleep very good probably because I was visualizing my day. Up at 6am and took had usual bagel w/PB,OJ,vitamins,coffee. Only ate 1/2 the bagel just didn't feel like eating. I think I was just tired from not enough sleep.
Arrived at the event about 630 for 8staart time and had more than enough time to get transition set up. Made a head call and walked around watching others get set up and a little socializing about the course. Everybody including me got a little freak out by the referee making the call that the water temp was 80' and no wetsuits would be allowed. This was not good because I had never swam without it never mind the race distance. Only option was to wear it and take the offical DQ from national points or awards something that I had no interest in anyway. They would allow you to race and get a time but no oficial USAT times. Oh well. Warm up was usual stretching.
