What about a one month masters session?  That will get you about 8 lessons for about $35 at Lifetime. 

Masters won't provide the individual stroke work he wants.

The TI clinic is insanely priced. I can't imagine one weekend would be $700 helpful! I have found that most clients can process and work on two new skills a week. We fix two things and move on to something else.

Gosh, I charge $25 a session (30 mins to 1 hour). And it includes filming! I would offer my services but I am in Dallas, TX.

The masters groups here are not about instruction. its like a swim club. you have to be at a certain level to even attempt their workouts and they don't like you showing up and doing your own thing.

I am fine with honing my technique during my weekly swim workouts on my own after getting a couple of personal sessions to get filmed and correct the fundamental flaws. This is my very first tri and I've only been swimming for 3 weeks now. Just need a coach to get me started.

I swim masters a few times a week at Dad's Club in Houston and agree that masters swimming isn't designed to improve your technique.  I've also watched youtube videos to get some instruction but I found that it can be hard to put into practice what they're telling you.  I think having someone tell what you're doing wrong and explaining correct form and drills to correct it is the best way of improving stroke.  Dad's Club just started this week a tri-oriented swim class that focuses on stroke technique and building endurance.  You get 5 classes a week MW nights 7-8 and T/TH/F mornings 5:30-6:30 and its pretty good deal at $95 per month.  The class is small right (4 people) so you get the individual attention you need.  Check out http://www.dadsclub-swimteam.com/dads-tri-club.  It may not be what you're looking for if you only want only a few sessions but still worthy of a look.

Thanks everyone for all the offers and guidance. I found a coach close by where I live in Sugar land and have my first lesson scheduled for tomorrow night. Going to get filmed etc...

The tri group sounds fun but don't know if I have time to get there during the hours its offered. maybe down the road that would be an option but with the new baby around I have to try to stay somewhat close to home.

I'll let everyone know how my progress is coming along. I had my best swim workout on Tuesday (1000M) with some catch up and one-arm drills I got from teh internet. probably wasn't doing them perfectly, but the catch up drills helped me slow down and get smoother.

Just an update. I have now had two half hour lessons and its helping tremendously. Lots of little things that needed correcting and very helpful drills to work on to get me more efficient.

I highly recommend anyone who is starting out swimming to spend the money and hire a coach. its worth it.

UH has a masters class for triathletes they advertise as for all comers.

I have been looking for this service and I found this one ( swimming lessons houston ). I am not sure about the quality of the origin of the offering. Has anyone looked into this before? If you have any other option you know are worth the time to check out, please post them here.

My friend already knows how to swim and does so regularly for fitness, but wants some help with some of the more advanced techniques like flip turns and is looking for pointers on her stroke.
