Subject: 2nd Tri...Injured and Out I did my 2nd tri last Saturday. Details are on Race Reports: Great Lakes Triathlon/Duathlon Championships.
After having an OW meltdown in June, I finished 10th of 40 in my AG this time, turning the swim from my weakest to the strongest leg.
I gave up running two weeks prior to the event, though, due to my inflamed 2nd metatarsal joint, and my run leg suffered. Now, I can't even walk on the thing, and it's time to get off my foot for a while.
My plan is to swim like a maniac for the time being and hope that the foot settles down in time for a fall duathlon before the Michigan season gives way to ice and snow. I had hoped to do an Oly in August, but it just wouldn't be wise. It's time to listen to the body.
It feels great to have found this cool sport and to be able to put together a respectable race, with a lot of room for future improvement, but it's also quite frustrating to be forced to the sideline at this year's fitness peak.
I'll be living vicariously through your reports, people. |
