I'm over in North Vancouver.. but lived in Victoria for 9 years..
I know a few triathletes over there.. With permission, I can pass along info..

A couple of Tri groups that I'm aware of...

"I-Tri" - aka Island Triathlon - they are the ones that host "Triathlon of Compassion" in July..very personable coaches & athletes..    http://islandtriathlon.ca/

"TriStars"- never heard of them when I lived on the Island.. but ran into them at Wine Capital event in Oliver.. super friendly & approachable     http://www.tristarstraining.com/index.php

Beyond'tri' specific groups... you can always explore drop-in runs/rides or clinics at your nearest running shop like Running Room, Frontrunners...  or the local bike shop...

All the best...

I'm apart of TriStars and it's a fantastic group, great range of abilities and ages!

Good to hear about Tri Stars ... I'm meeting with one of 'em on Friday morning about some training. I also know Evan Fagan who is, I think, part of Tri Stars ... I'm a relative newcomer but am hoping to train for the Subaru Half Ironman for next June (2012) ... to "celebrate" my Year of Turning 50. Gad. There's so much wrong with that sentence I don't know where to start.

Meanwhile, I do have my own small group, called Fit to be Tri'd ... we meet here and there for swims and rides and runs ... we have a Facebook page so if you are on FB and "like" the Fit to be Tri'd page (not the clothing outfit, the one with a rainbow logo) you can see our events. We're meeting at Thetis Lake tomorrow (Thursday) for a swim at 4:30 ... bunch of us doing the Tri of Compassion on Sunday ...

I'm meeting with Carolyn ... what time on Wednesdays do you swim Thetis? Sundays are generally out for me 'cause I work at Knox Church on Sunday mornings (seriously interferes with my life during training/race season, lol) ...
