Swim
Comments: Although I kept my stroke and breathing nice and even, and kept an even pace, it was too slow. I need to figure out how to push the pace, but still keep my breathing and stroke even. What would you do differently?: Push harder once I'm in the clear and feeling set. Transition 1
Comments: I hadn't practiced transitioning this year, and with the new bike/shoes, I need to. In particular, I need to practice "running" in my bike shoes, as well as clipping in faster. Also, I really struggled getting my shirt and jacket on. I need to figure out a different strategy (tri-shirt under wetsuit?). What would you do differently?: Practice more, and get a faster strategy for putting on a shirt. Bike
Comments: The hills gave me some trouble. I need to work on my strength for climbing the hills faster. On the straights and downhills, I was fine. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Need to practice more. Run
Comments: I feel like I could have pushed harder. My first mile was at about a 10:06 pace, but my second mile was around 9:00. Then, my third mile dropped off because of a hill, and I backed off somewhat for some reason. What would you do differently?: Push harder. Post race
Warm down: Just walked around transition and the expo area, drank coconut water, and ate a sandwich. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not understanding how hard I can push in the swim and the run. Last updated: 2011-02-04 12:00 AM
