Comments: The surf was larger than normal and I loved hearing the concern from the participants. Went out hard and had a guest on my left as well as a foot tickler. Continued hard until the fist buoy and settled a bit. Made the second turn and had the waves coming in. All I could think about was all the people who would pass me on the bike so I sprinted to the beach. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: My T1 time was combined with the bike so I don't know how I did What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Again the T1 time is combined so I will never know. It was my fasted bike thus far and best effort to date. I tried to hang on to everyone who passed (without drafting.) Trying to absorb some energy from their pace. It really seemed to give me a boost and keep me fighting. My strap got caught in the ring on my left shoe and I fiddled with it a bit but decided it was too short a ride to waste any time so I road with the strap loose. What would you do differently?: Leave my straps like I do during training instead of opening them all the way up. Transition 2
Comments: T2 is combined with run time so I can't quantify my performance. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: I know this run was short. The beach run was during high tide so the water forced you to run in the loose sand. This, combined with several cuts that were too wide to jump, made the run very challenging. I finally gave up the dry feet and jumped the cuts as best I could instead of going around them. I took about a 10 sec wrong turn when my brain was thinking St. Anthony's and I followed the Olympic course for just a bit. Ended up being a blessing as I was right behind someone in my age group who I was able to surprise and overtake at the finish. If I wouldn't have taken the wrong turn it could have been the other way around. What would you do differently?: I would have probably run barefoot and been a minute faster. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: My usual weak biking legs and the sand on the run. Event comments: I was unimpressed with the organization of this race from the start. They did not post a lot of info until two days before and it did not seem like the volunteers knew anything about the race. From body marking to the ins and outs of transition. It wasn't their fault I just don't believe they were briefed. I still enjoyed it because I love it and i hugged three of the volunteers before I left. I even got a tear from one of the older lady's when I thanked her. Last updated: 2011-05-14 12:00 AM

Ate a bagel and had some coffee during the one hour drive.
Swam and stretched a bit. Actually swam twice because of the late wave and late race start.
