Comments: My calves were still knotted up from last month's half so I played it safe for most of the race (even 7:17s). The weather was absolutely perfect (start in the mid-50s, clear & sunny) which is rare for the CMM. The course changes added a few additional hills from 7-9 but it seemed to benefit the congestion issues (this race is notoriously congested for runners at 1:45+). I still think the hills on the last 2 miles (near the Capitol) are unnecessary but I liked that they moved the finish line a few hundred yards from the bottom of the last hill. What would you do differently?: See a physical therapist about my calf issues. It was a good experience to run a race under control. Post race
Warm down: Stretched, watched my brother PR and drank a ton of water. Publix put on a great spread. What limited your ability to perform faster: Calf issues. Event comments: This race is always a favorite because of the energy and the atmosphere. The course is a little challenging but not overwhelmingly so. Last updated: 2011-01-17 12:00 AM
