Subject: Mobile Alabama Triathletes
Coming down to Dauphin Island on holiday this Friday. Need to get in 80mile ride Saturday morning. Any locals have ride route suggestions? Solo or Groups ok.

Getting an 80 mile ride in on Dauphin Island will require a lot of repeat east/west riding.  There is one main road and if I recall correctly  would take about 6 or 7 trips back and forth.   My suggestion is to take the ferry to Fort Morgan and ride through Gulf Shores to the Florida State line and back.   Gulf Shores has dedicated bike lanes.

 

And beware of the sand that is on the roads.    A small amount of sand will act as a lubricant and make the road slippery.   A lot of sand will act as a break and can easily cause a spill.
