Subject: Scott Speedster S50 or Motobecane Grand Record?

Hey guys,

I am getting ready to get a bike.  I am looking at the 2010 Scott Speedster S50 and the 2010 Motobecane Grand Record.  I can get them both for the same price.  I know that the Moto is going the have better components on it but I am not really sure about the brand, and I know that the Scott with be a good bike.  Any help that you guys can give me would be great.

As someone who owns a Scott Speedster (2005) that I still like to ride (i'm the 2nd owner), I'd recommend it.  I just changed over the components (they were 9-speed shimano 105) to SRAM Rival to make it match my other road bike and continue to be very happy with it.

I have a scott s30 and I have loved the bike. I am 6'4" and found out that the stock wheels wouldn't handle my weight. Something to think about depending on your size. Check the spoke count before you buy or you might have to upgrade.

I'm in my second season with an S50 and it really is a decent bike.  That being said, I'll be upgrading to a tri bike next season for sure.

I own a Moto and can attest that they're decent quality frames.  So for me for the money I'd go for the better components.

Do however keep in mind that if you buy mail order you'll need to do the assembly yourself (it's pretty easy) or pay a shop to do it, so factor that into the cost.
