![]() Swim
Comments: Should have gone out to the outside as I got boxed in and couldn't get past two breaststrokers. I was kicked, hit and swallowed enough water that hydration shouldn't have been a problem for the entire rest of the race. Got off course after the final bouy, but still managed a strong swim. What would you do differently?: Go to the outside more on the start. ![]() Transition 1
What would you do differently?: Nothing, went great ![]() Bike
Comments: Need a real bike, but road tires, clipless pedals, etc. made this work well. What would you do differently?: Push a little harder, had a lot left for the run. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Got bike caught on rack and lost a couple of seconds. Was more shaky changing shoes than anticpated, but didn't want to sit down for fear of never getting back up. Had to remember to put number belt on as had forgotten it before. ![]() Run
What would you do differently?: Push a little harder - I had lots left. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Just stood around and chatted - too much fun and too many friends. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not having a racing bike Last updated: 2005-08-28 12:00 AM

Up really early since I couldn't sleep. Plugged in the coffee, wandered around making sure everything was in the car from last night. Left for the race, scared, excited, nervous and not hungry. Choked down an English muffin with peanut butter and most a banana. Was the second to rack my bike. Rode the run course, ran just a bit, talked to my buddies the most.
Rode the run and ran a bit. Water was too cold to go in.
