I won't be there, but it's a fun small race.  Good people too!  It's only about 10 minutes from my parents and family live, so normally I'd try to make it.  Maybe next year!

I'll be there. Been under the weather, so not sure how it's going to go! This is my first time doing this race but I did do the greater gator oly tri out there last month and the water was ROUGH. Hoping it's a bit more smooth this time around.

Just picked up my packet. They said we could wear wet suits but that it's going to be pretty warm. Opinions???

That is surprising.  I thought the lake temp was around 81 right now.

They were saying that as long as it doesn't hit 84 degrees. I was always under the impression that 78 was the magic number? So should I wear mine or do you think it'll get too hot?

Above 78 but under 84 is ok to wear but you are not eligible for awards.  You may want to go back & check with them however.  I will be asking tomorrow when I pick up my packet as well.  I don't have enough experience with wetsuits at those temps to tell you if it would be too warm.  I was not planning on wearing one assuming the temp is above 78.

Water has been warm the past few weeks in the lake (I've swam in it both the past 2 weekends).  I'd say probably 80 deg at least.  I was sweating last time I went across the lake and back, which is about a mile.  So I'm going with no wetsuit.

Getting psyched today!  This was the first tri I ever did (last year) and looking forward to going back hopefully stronger.

I was told the temp was around 75 - 76 but I find that hard to believe. I have had some problems with my zipper sticking so I don't want to risk it and will go without. I'm #12, feel free to say hi. That bike course is gonna burn. I was tired after driving it.

Haha. This is only my second oly tri so I'm still in the "completer, not competer" frame of mind, so as long as I find the finish line, I'll be doing alright. Still on the fence about my wetsuit, think I'm going to be a sheep and follow the crowd - see what everyone else is doing. I am #29. Good luck and maybe I'll see you out there!

Just noticed from your picture that we have the same bike (except my saddle's not pink).

I can't imagine using a wetsuit in Boerne Lake in late July, says me, a former SA resident.  I don't gather you've had a cold spell recently that has lowered the water temps.  In my 2 or 3 times doing the race I don't think anyone wore wetsuits.

I liked the race, in spite of mainly chip seal roads.  The bike course can be challenging for some.

Had a great time there today, I was #59.  I should have read this thread again before I went i would have said hi to ya'll.

Luckily the overcast weather kept the heat away until the end.  I was feeling pretty miserable on the run though.  Came in at 3:02, just a little slower than my goal time of 3:00.

My lack of training the last two weeks due to being under the weather really caught up with me today. The bike was tough! Didn't do as well as I would have liked to, but somehow pulled out second in my age group. Probably had more to do with the low number of women doing the olympic distance than my actual skills. Haha. Thankfully the weather held out pretty well, it was blazing hot by noon.

I ended up 2nd in my age group at 2:51.  That bike leg was brutal with the hills and the rough chip seal roads.  Really took its toll on my legs for the run which wasn't exactly flat either.

LOL we can all rejoice we all came in 2nd in our AG!  I totally died on the run right from the start, burnt out my legs on the bike.  But it gave me a few things to focus on for my training!

I'm glad to hear that I wasn't the only one suffering! What tri are y'all looking forward to next? I was thinking of doing the Avia tri in Austin on sept 5. Not sure though.

Longhorn 70.3 is up next for me.  I might do a sprint in Tyler before that, haven't decided.

This race was tough.  I never have walked during the run part of a tri, but I did Sunday.  Was the course that tough?  I completed Marble Falls Tri the Sunday before.

I think the hills got to some people if they don't live around the hill country.  But I have heard that this course is a bit harder than others (I've only done one other tri, done this one twice!)

I'm thinking about the Austin Avia on Sept 5 as well, but am really training for the Austin 70.3 in October.  Thats my #1 focus right now.

Thought that I would poke my nose in since we all seem to be neighbors.I am going to do the sprint at pearl brewery this weekend. Then the gatorbait then avia in austin then longhorn 70.3. Then a nap.

Yes, it is very tough.  Only one person came in under 2:30 overall and only five managed 20 mph on the bike.  That is very slow.

It was super tough. Especially the 5 miles, uphill, on the cracked asphalt, into the wind (or did I just imagine that because I was suffering?). That part was unfortunately not my idea of a good time, the rest was fun though :-) I wish I could do more events, but budget constraints make me pick and choose, I'm thinking the avia in austin is up next for me. When is the longhorn 70.3? I would love to spectate. Thats my goal next year.
