Elite 3201 South Florida | Subject: Captain America Go check it out this weekend- it was great! My cousin plays the lead role so I was lucky enough to go to the premiere on Tuesday. It is getting mostly good reviews so far. The comic book fans seem to really like it, which is exciting because they are always tough on comic book movies. We're all hoping for great opening weekend box office numbers, so please go check it out! |

Pro 6011 Camp Hill, Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Captain America My son and I saw it last night. We both liked it ok, but thought it was a good movie, not a great movie. It was a little cheesy at times, and we both had mixed feelings about the ending. Overall, it was a fun movie, and worth seeing on the big screen (especially in 3D), but go planning on being entertained, not blown away by a future classic. |

A good way to spend a hot afternoon, but there were only one or two moments that the 3D made a difference. I was bothered by the contrails coming off the propeller driven plane, to which mrs gearboy said "THAT was the improbable part for you?" |

A good way to spend a hot afternoon, but there were only one or two moments that the 3D made a difference. I was bothered by the contrails coming off the propeller driven plane, to which mrs gearboy said "THAT was the improbable part for you?" A few versions of the Nazi wing were built with both jet engines and "pusher" propellers-- so that aspect was actually completely plausible. http://www.world-war-2-planes.com/go-229-jet-aircraft.html My boys (7 and 5) and I saw the movie on Friday and thought it was great. I really loved the stylized 1940's world they created. The acting was also top-notch by all involved (especially Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Stanley Tucci, Hugo Weaving.) Not a real complicated plot, but a great story of the "little guy" with the guts, determination and good old-fashioned American can-do attitude to rise up and defeat the bad guy. To me, it was very reminiscent of Joe Johnston's earlier directing effort "The Rocketeer", which I always thought was very underrated. No swearing, nudity or overly graphic violence either, so it's a fairly safe movie to take the kids to (depending on your tolerance for violence-- there's not really much blood, but people do get shot and vaporized and such). The scariest thing, according to my kids, is Red Skull's face. Oh, and Hayley Atwell is really, really nice to look at. I give it an A-. |

Regular 116 | Subject: RE: Captain America I really enjoyed it. I did not follow Capt. Am in the comic books as a kid, so i did not know what to expect (other then the Red Skull.) I thought the story was good. To me, it proved that you dont need to fly to be a super hero. I think it would be unfair to compare it to Harry Potter. After all HP had seven movies to develope it's story and characters. To me it was a good start to the Avengers. Between all of the super hero movies, I think there are so many sub plots that the Advengers will really tie them up in a kick a$$ series. As far a Chris Evans, he did a great job. (I just did not beleive the Brooklyn accent.) I would have like to see a little more emotion in some spots, but I blame that on the director. PS. I saw a credit for a Nicole Evans (dancer) I wonder if she was related to Chris? Evans is a common name, but it was the placment of the name in the credits that made me think there was a connection.

66 | Subject: RE: Captain America I took my boys to see this weekend (6 and 9). It was good. My 9 yr old reconginzed all the Iron Man/Stark stuff in it. I never really followed CA as a kid so it was all new to me. My 6 yr old didn't care for it to much. Wasn't as much beating up as we thought there would be. Seems typical with "begining" movies that there was a lot of development time devoted, not as much beating up. I think I read where Marvel is releasing several beginning movies to set up a big Avengers movie in a few years. There was some cheeze it in, but it was also a comic book so thats to be expected. I would deffinetly go see the next one. |

Elite 3201 South Florida | Subject: RE: Captain America I'm glad most of you liked it. I knew nothing about the comic books so some of it was over my head. I took my family to see it last night and my husband explaned the Stark/Ironman connection. We went with 6 kids ages 4-10 and they all liked it. As for some of the questions. My cousin plays skinny and big Steve- they used CGI to make him skinny. Which, strangely enough to my family, was pretty much what he looked like when he was 12. The dancer is no relation to us. His brother, Scott Evans, is an actor though. He has been in some soaps and is moving to LA next month so we may see him doing more soon. |

Expert 1603 Westchester, NY | Subject: RE: Captain America I'm a huge geek and I loved it. I don't know if I was just in a good mood or what, but I left feeling like it was the 2nd best live action comic super hero flick I've seen. Spidey 2 is still #1 in my book. The 1st Ironman had been #2, but I think Cap now bumps that down to #3. I was not sure How Chris Evans would do as Cap after seeing him as the Human Torch on the FF movies, but I liked him in the role a lot. The FX used to make him scrawny at the beginning was great, but a little over done IMO. Joe Johnston did a great job. I thought it had a bit of an Indiana Jones feel to it and the right amount of humor mixed in with the action. The guy who played Howard Stark was also really good. He riffed off of Robert Downey's portrayal of Tony Stark very well to give off that "like father, like son" vibe. I can't wait to see what Whedon does with the Avengers. Geek trivia alert: Who caught the original human torch reference in the Cap movie? |

I am not sure were it was. Please tell. Early in the movie when they go to the World's Fair, there is a glass case containing the "Synthetic Man." That's the original Torch, who was an android. When he was exposed to oxygen he burst into flame. Cap, Torch, Sub Mariner (& others I think) went on to form the team the Invaders. BTW, it was also cool to see the "Howling Commandos" in the Cap movie, but I wish they'd included a young Nick Fury on the team! |

Veteran 392 Calgary | Subject: RE: Captain America My boyfriend and I took his 10-yr old son last night. He and I thought it was a pretty cheezy, although highly fun and entertaining, movie. The 10-yr old was beside himself with awesome - literally on the edge of his seat through the whole thing, with his jaw hung open half the time. And he chattered on about it the whole way home. Really though - becoming an unlikely action-hero is every little boy's dream. :-)
