Swim
Comments: Lap 2 got a bit crazy as I caught the next wave and the slower swimmers. Lots of people using breast stroke made it harder to pass. What would you do differently?: Try to draft a bit more. Push harder on the last 1/4 of the swim. Transition 1
Comments: Long run from beach to the bike area. Lots of loose dirt and grass that was hard to clean off the feet before getting in your shoes. Bike
Comments: I got my HR to stabalize after the first lap. I was going faster than my original plan but since my HR was in my zone I kept the speed up. What would you do differently?: Push a bit harder and keep my HR at the edge of my zone. Transition 2
Comments: Feet very dirtly with grass and dirt. Hard to clean off to get in running shoes. Long run from dismount to bike rack and then to run out. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Lots of wind. Many racers walking. What would you do differently?: Push the last 2 miles harder. Post race
Warm down: Kept moving for a few minutes. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bike fitness was not at the level I wanted. Long distances to the transition area. Event comments: Organized, lots of volunteers. Main issues were with aid stations on the run. Missed water at 3 stations because they were not filling fast enough or told me they were full and the cups were empty. No food after the event. No entertainment after the event. Overall Rank = 109/972
Age Group = M 30-34
Age Group Rank = 20/162
Set up transition area. Relaxed as each wave started. Race started women and then oldest men's age groups first so I had 2 hours to wait.
Brief swim in the ocean to warm up the arms.
