Swim
Comments: Swim started off terrible! Too many negative thoughts!! Almost called it quits before 500 M had gone by. After that I settled in, and on lap 2 really found my stroke, and managed to draft a great swimmer who led us perfectly through the throng of 1/2 Iron thrashers. What would you do differently?: Not much. Try and be more positive mentally? Transition 1
Comments: Good T1. Would have gone faster if I had a towel. Need to practice a bit. But still pretty quick. Bike
Comments: Caught myself dozing a bit during some laps. Not focused on keeping the momentum up. Need to stay focused. Aside from the sunburn and the wind, it was a near perfect ride. Transition 2
Comments: Have to address the problem of my aero waterbottle on the racking. Forgot to put on sunscreen. Had to come back and put that on. Run
Comments: The run was tough, mentally and physically. At times I caught myself with bad form, slumping shouldars etc. I realized that if I got myself back upright again it helped speed me up and eased the pain. Mental focus is key here. I realized on the last lap I had more energy than I thought. Overall though, a good first effort, and I'm pretty pleased. Post race
Warm down: Lots of cramping in first 15-20 mins. Didn't feel too bad otherwise. Went out for a steak dinner with Francie. She was a little grumpy after being the most awesome support wife ever for over 12 hours! What limited your ability to perform faster: Cramping. Pretty sure it was more muscle fatigue than anything else. Event comments: Love this race! I will be back again and again! Last updated: 2011-05-02 12:00 AM

Pre-race lead up was a shambles. All kinds of family issues in the last 2 weeks. No workouts. Wasn't even sure we were going until we actually left. Didn't get into hotel in Montreal until 8:30 at night. Day of the event things were a little better, however I seemed to be rushed anyways. Probably just as well, as I had sooooo many bad thoughts going through my head.
There was really no time for warm-up. I did manage to swim about 25 M out and back. Tried to relax by talking to others in the group. That helped as always.
