Total Time = 1h 30m 58s
Overall Rank = 658/992
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 82/109
Pre-race routine:

Didn't sleep too well the night before but was OK getting up at 3:45AM (ugh). Had some breakfast and took off at 4:30 for LB.
Event warmup:

Stretched a bit before event; Did a 5-10 minute swim warmup, man that water felt COLD!
Swim
  • 16m 38s
  • 875 yards
  • 01m 54s / 100 yards
Comments:

Overall I was pleased as I didn't expect to swim this quickly however I was a bit lightheaded coming out of the water. Found myself passing quite a few people...I probably should have tried starting a bit further up in the pack.
What would you do differently?:

Push my pace a bit more at this distance and eat more before the race.
Transition 1
  • 03m 38s
Comments:

Would consider this OK since it was my first T1, but I did have some "challenges" getting out of my wetsuit. Otherwise I was very...slow and steady getting ready for the ride.
What would you do differently?:

Work on getting out of that wetsuit! :)
Bike
  • 39m 26s
  • 11 miles
  • 16.74 mile/hr
Comments:

My left hamstring and groin were acting up again. Kept me from staying in the big ring which really affected my average speed. Kept getting passed, unless I switched to the big ring, then I was doing the passing.
Transition 2
  • 02m 20s
Comments:

Started to get a little slow at this point. Was methodical in getting ready to run.
What would you do differently?:

More bricks! :)
Run
  • 28m 56s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs were a bit sore at this point and my heart rate was elevated. No matter what I did, I couldn't keep my HR down.
What would you do differently?:

Considering I am not a very good runner, I wasn't too displeased with the overall. However, that was my lowest ranking of the three events so I guess it is time to RUN MORE.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Sore hamstring and groin (left side)

Event comments:

Overall, I was very pleased considering I've never done anything like this before. I felt very well prepared going in, however I feel as though I really didn't push myself as hard as I could have. I think in certain respects I overthought the notion of pacing myself.

Great Race Triathlete!!

It was good that you paced yourself well so you take it up a notch on the bike later and finish the run strong. You learned a lot during this first tri which will help you in all your future ones!

So when is your next tri?

Nice report Bill.  Darn good times for your first Sprint!

Be careful with that groin injury.  I've been battling a torn abdominal muscle for 7 months now and can't shake it.  Groin pulls are a bugger to heal.
