Run
Comments: I wanted to run 9 mins/mile or better. I ended up running 9.01/mile. Thats a little faster than what I usual run, so I never felt like I could get a good cleansing breath and settle in. But I still ran close to the times I wanted for each mile, and finished really, really strong. That felt so great! There was a ton of people at this event, so there was alot of cheering coming down the stretch - it was very cool. What would you do differently?: I should have started my last burst about at least a quarter mile sooner. I think I could have held that pace. That is now two events in a row that I had a great race, but missed my goal time by 30 seconds or less. I think I just need to believe in myself and go for it! Post race
Warm down: Gasping for breath...light stretching, lots of water. What limited your ability to perform faster: It was somewhat crowded - I had to watch out for others more today than the other races I've recently done. My biggest limiter remains my training. I just am not used to moving this body very fast for a long time. The great news is that it just going to keep getting better! Event comments: http://www.eliteracing.com/exec/elite/Carlsbad.cfm?publicationID=4 It was fantastic getting out there today. There were a ton of great runners (including the elite female from Ethiopia setting a new world record today). It was amazing watching the top runners just fly by. Last updated: 2004-03-29 1:29 AM
