                    ![]() Swim
Comments: Very windy, course was located on southern end of a large lake, with winds blowing from the north, high chop developing to waves in prevailing wind. two legs of the course were into the wind. Lots of rocks underwater near shore, very difficult to walk through since visibility of water was near 0, before the start of the race I was able to carefully avoid rocks to get to a starting position, however on exiting I cut my right foot in 2 places and also cut my left. Race began with a mass start of 110 people; was like swimming in a washing machine. What would you do differently?: Wear a wetsuit, in the extreme chop I swam with my head up alot, causing my body to sink, a wet suit would of added some boyancy ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Put shoes on before mounting bike, had to clean cuts and stop bleeding on feet before putting on sox What would you do differently?: Pack a first aid kit ![]() Bike
Comments: Bike went pretty good I was happy with it, road conditions overall were fair, I hit a couple of road wide cracks that if hit right could have blown a tire, but luckily didn't ![]() Transition 2
Comments: run did not go well, after comming off bike and starting run developed really bad cramp in calf that would not work out, reduced me to running jogging short distances then walking, my running time is terrible What would you do differently?: Hydrate more, during bike, and not use the breaststroke during swim using up valuable leg energy during swim ![]() Run
Comments: pulled mussle in left calf that reduced me to walking, couldn't work out pain so I had to finish race with walk/run What would you do differently?: Hydrate better during bike ![]() Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Pain due to mussle pull in left calf during bike. Event comments: I have to give this race a 2 because of the hazard of submerge rocks that are not visable. This is unacceptale, needless injury is unacceptable the start area in the lake is relativly small, it would not taken long at all to clear the area of rocks or pick a better location for the start.
