Pre-race routine:

Woke up, was really tired. Ate a PB sandwich with water and juice. Drove the 30+ min. to the race site.
Event warmup:

Went to the bathroom! (always a big deal for me, can make or break a race) and stood/walked around for about an hour. We were really early so Welshy and I roamed and people watched. Still tired, just didn't feel awake. Should have had a coke when I woke up.

Comments:

Small hills, nothing major, about 2 miles of flat in the middle of the race. Went through some neighborhoods, then miles 2.5-3 on a busy road, then back the way we started. Basically just a big loop.

I was achy and not wasn't feeling the run until exactly 30 min into the run. I felt warm after that and really felt like I could have gone longer. Kinda funny because we were almost done at that point. It was a nice relaxing run, the scenery and partner were great.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

BEER!! There was beer after the race. I've forgotten what its like to have free beer...I miss it. Races in GA don't do that. Anyway, the race coincided with the annual Wurst Fest, the great Sausage Festival in New Braunsfels. Beer and sausage after the race-so good! We hung out, I laid in the grass and we waited for the awards and enjoyed the weather. Very cool atmosphere.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Was not "racing" this was a fun run! Took it easy, didn't want to push anything, still letting my body heal. Wanted to run with Welshy anyway.

Event comments:

I will do this race next year, it was a good course and the post race festivites were the best!

"beat" is a word you should use loosely...

Congrats on the win sweetie.
